QII (quality insulation installation) is based on visual inspections by the HERS Rater at multiple times during the construction process to verify the integrity of both the building envelope’s air-barrier and thermal-barrier.

If at any time a feature that requires visual inspection per the QII protocols becomes inaccessible to the HERS Rater, then that project will not be able to meet the requirements of QII and will fail.

For this reason QII has one of the highest failure rates of any HERS verified measure. Strong communication and scheduling between the Builder and Rater are essential to passing this measure.
