HENGH Project Information
Healthy Efficient New California Homes
Dear Energy Rater,
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is conducting a research study of mechanical ventilation and indoor air quality. This research aims to determine how new California homes can provide adequate ventilation and good indoor air quality, while improving energy efficiency.
We are looking for California homes to participate in this study. To be eligible to participate, you must live in a homeowner-occupied single family, detached house built in 2011 or later. Your house must use natural gas and have mechanical ventilation like bathroom exhaust fan or kitchen range hood. No smoking can be allowed, and the homeowner must speak English.
The research team will need to visit your home for approximately a half-day on three occasions. After confirming your home meets the study requirements, the team will inspect all natural gas appliances and collect ventilation and IAQ-related data for a one-week period. At the end of the study, you will receive a report documenting the results.
Participants who complete the entire study may receive a Lowe’s gift card valued up to $350. You will receive a free safety inspection of your natural gas appliances.
We would very much appreciate your forwarding the message below in its exact wordings to individuals, age 18 or older, who many be eligible and interested in participating. LBNL will compensate you $25 for each eligible study participant referred by you.
Please provide your contact information to LBNL if you plan to forward this message to individuals who may be interested. Please send the message only one time. Please do not apply any pressure to get them to participate in our study.
